Preschool
The Aurora City Schools Preschool Program at Miller Elementary services children with disabilities and typically developing children ages three through five years of age. Our preschool classrooms at Miller Elementary are integrated and serve children of all abilities. Our children with disabilities have been identified with a variety of developmental delays. These delays can be mild, moderate, and/or severe. Our children who serve as role model peers demonstrate strong and age appropriate social skills, communication skills, and behavioral skills as they help to model expected behavior and communication skills in the classroom setting.
We provide a continuum of services to our students with disabilities and work with families to provide our students with the support they need to succeed. Preschool services can be offered in our integrated preschool setting or in the local community preschool setting via the itinerant service model.
Our preschool program is licensed by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY) and we are a gold rated Step Up to Quality program. We implement an approved curriculum that is aligned to the Ohio Early Learning and Developmental Standards. The preschool program is staffed with highly qualified teachers and assistant teachers(paraeducators). The teachers have Bachelors and/or Master degrees. The assistant teachers have a variety of backgrounds and training as outlined in the Ohio reschool Licensing and Step up to Quality standards.
